'PRESERVE' - Varanasi, INDIA
(See video & photos below)
In December last year I travelled to Varanasi, India to take part in a mural project with @mojarto_official which centered around creating public art and awareness for the preservation of the Ganges. I felt lucky to be invited to such an amazing, spiritual place at what felt like a necessary time of change in my life.
Going into this project I asked some questions and did some research and created what at the time I thought was a considered ‘design’ for my wall. However knowing what I did, and most importantly DID NOT know, I went with open intentions to learn and experience as much as I could and accept the experience for what they may be; questions still unanswered and territory unknown. This was rewarded ten-fold by the huge hearts and hospitality shown to me by all the people I connected with there.
In the few days before starting the mural I learnt of the spiritual importance and symbology of the city and pivoted my mural’s content to reflect a celebration of the Ganges. I realized I wanted to create something for and alongside my team and the people of the Ghat’s that reflected the ancient beauty and traditions I saw around me.
