‘Finding flow’ is a new collection of paintings, collages and textural surfaces created over the course of 2025 at my (current) home studio located on the Mornington Peninsula. The artworks in ‘Finding flow’ are inspired by time spent exploring coastal landscapes, chasing waves and watching the sky change. Life is always in a state of change, growth and decay and my process has become a more intimate observation of this movement and flux. I’m inspired by visually capturing these observations and evidence of how energy and time manifests itself on our environment through both serenity and chaos.
The exhibition also featured an ‘entrance collage’ and ‘evolving’ mural. The collage, which covers the entrance way into the gallery, gives the audience a unique insight into my artwork development and studio process. The mural’s starting point was the mural from my previous exhibition, ‘Rain to Rust’, and was completed in stages during the exhibitions duration. The process, and intention, was to transform the mural artwork to show the audience the changes in my painting practice and inspirations over time.
In creative terms ‘Flow’ is a state of consciousness where action and awareness merge, time dilates and we can achieve goals at a high and fulfilling level. It is the ‘zone’ where creativity flows, seemingly effortlessly and freely, through us into our practice and forming an ideal and joyous state of being.
For me, ‘Finding Flow’, is as much about my eternal pursuit of being in creative flow state, as it is a making time to explore practices that better connect me to the flow and rhythms of the world around me. The creation of this work is theraputic in itself and my goal is to visually capture this conversation between serenity and chaos as a means to better understand personal fulfillment and harmony within life.
