DAVID 'MEGGS' HOOKE
MEGGS - Rain to Rust v2.1 (Sound on)

'Creation. Corrosion'

Below are recent collaborative experiments, with motion designer Richard Mellor, in applying particle filters, liquid effects and video layers to photos of my physical paintings. I see this direction as a means of expanding my two and three dimensional physical artworks into moving and evolving digital forms. These specific utilise paintings from my 'Rain To Rust' solo exhibition.

To create these artworks I use a variety of techniques and materials to mimic the variety of coastal textures I use as references. The video footage integrating ocean waves is taken down on the Mornington Peninsula (VIC) where I live and surf regularly.

These experiments are the beginning stages of further digital development and open up my artwork to use in projection festivals, projection mapping and physically interactive digital art experiences for large scale video installations and festivals.
